The frieze Alexander the Great's Entry into Babylon (The Alexander Frieze), was originally executed by Thorvaldsen at commission by the French in 1812 at the Quirinal Palace in Rome. In 1818 Thorvaldsen made another version of the frieze for Christiansborg Castle.
